Welcome to my Owl pages, after you have a look around here I’m sure you’ll come to the conclusion that I am slightly obsessed with Owls. My obsession started about two years ago when I decided that owls would be my main focus of photography for that shooting season. As every spring I sit down and think about what it is that I want to accomplish for that year. Two years ago I went on a quest so to speak to find and photograph at least one owl, I wasn’t disappointed.

Long Eared Owl

That year proved to be one of the best seasons of photography I’ve had yet. My first encounter with a wild owl was with a Great Horned Owl. If I’m not mistaken it was the owl that you can se in our Gallery 1. Alyssa and I were walking though the bush when she pointed to something in a tree that she thought was a Red Tail Hawk, as it turned out it was an owl. It was the first time I’ve been so transfixed on a wild animal. From that moment on I have tried to learn as much about all types of owls as I can, I am constantly on the look out for owls, owl nests and young owls.

On this page and the pages you can link to here, you will find information on different types of owls, as well as images of owls that I have taken for reference information.
Also you can click on the SBOIC link and will be taken to the pages that showcase our visit to the Burrowing Owl Center in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. I hope these pages offer you some small glimpse into the world of these truly amazing birds. Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Center.

I'll start here with a showcase of my favorite owls, the ones I most commonly see while I am out in the field. On the pages that follow you will find as much information as I could gather on each different type of owl, along with pictures and in some cases sounds.

The owl listed above are very common to see throughout the areas around North America. I am very fortunate to live in a place where you can drive as short distance and be able to find birds of this nature. Along these owls there are also a few that you very rarely see, if at all.
